Ellison On Oracle-PeopleSoft Layoffs: "We're Sorry"
Speaking to CNBC in a TV interview, Larry Ellison has said: 'We never like to be in the position where we have more employees than jobs - but that's just one of the things that happen when you glue two big companies together.' He added: 'We're sorry.'

Doesn't a downsizing always occur when two companies merge because of shared resources and elimination of duplicate administrative processes? I don't think the layoffs came as a surprise to Ellison. In fact, he probably could have given an advanced warning to the effected departments.

SAP Netweaver is a product suite aimed at creating a single platform for hosting all SAP and non-SAP Products. It is not a Database Server meant to take on Oracle.
