LogicaCMG today announces an agreement with Echoworx Corporation to offer
email encryption technology as a fully managed service to European
organisations who want to expand their suite of value-added security
services. Currently, LogicaCMG provides the technological elements of a full
information security service: delivery, hosting, management, operation and
monitoring of external and internal IT defences.
Using LogicaCMG's managed services removes the problems and complexities
of the client keeping up with fast moving technical security issues.
LogicaCMG already serves over 100 organisations with its information security
services practice. Through this agreement, existing and future LogicaCMG
customers will be able to benefit from the provision of secure email as a
fully managed service.
Recent research reports that the average UK business spends 4 - 5% of its
IT budget on information security, a percentage that is set to increase
dramatically with the continual rise in cyber crime. By choosing email
encryption as a managed service from LogicaCMG and Echoworx, customers will
be able to reap the substantial benefits of secure email technology without
dramatic upheavals to working practices and a long implementation process.

What is secure mail / email encryption?
Secure Mail is a white label product offered by service providers and is
one of the first encrypted email subscription-based services to target the
masses. When a person subscribes to Secure Mail, a small plug-in is
automatically downloaded into the subscribers email software. There is no
need to change email address or even be an existing subscriber of any service
from the service provider. With the click of a button, subscribers can then
send encrypted messages. Messages are digitally signed and encrypted
automatically before leaving the sender's desk-top and can only be opened by
the intended recipient. The recipient does not need to be a subscriber to the
service or download any software. Unlike most encryption solutions, the
Secure Mail offering is simple, using industry-trusted standards such as PKI,
S/MIME and X.509 certificates. It does not require complicated certificate
registration and can be used easily by non-technical consumers.
